General Summary

Provides HR leadership, direction and support for Reser’s Topeka plants ensuring Reser’s is recognized as an Employer of Choice in the Topeka, KS area.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partners with local leadership to promote a shared vision and culture for the employees at the Topeka site.
  • Provides guidance and recommendations to leadership to ensure consistency and common practices between sites.
  • Lead, support, and develop HR staff providing guidance on non-routine and sensitive matters including complex leaves, investigations, and other employee relations items.
  • Direct responsibility for team members who oversee recruiting, employee engagement, and payroll administration for the campus.
  • Directs campus wide recruiting and retention programs, focused on identifying areas of opportunity for turnover reduction as well as identifying best practices in recruitment and employee engagement.
  • Develops and oversees plans for to ensure an effective employee onboarding experience.
  • Provide recommendations to leadership on employee engagement opportunities and develop creative approaches to increasing engagement. 
  • Collaborates with leadership and Corporate HR Director to drive strategic company objectives.
  • Presents HR programs, policies, practices and initiatives to management and departments.
  • Supports leadership development initiatives to ensure continued growth and development of employees and leadership remains a focus.
  • Represents the company in lawsuits, grievances, legal claims and complaints.
  • Supports company training programs and initiatives for the Topeka facilities.
  • Works with Safety team leadership to focus on accident and injury prevention and to ensure HR partnership on safety programs.
  • Ensures company compliance with applicable employment-related laws and regulations.


This role will report to the Corporate Director of Human Resources with a dotted line to operational VP’s for the Topeka campus


Job Specifications

  • 7-10 years human resources experience; at least 5 years in a management or supervisory role.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field is required.
  • Exceptional written/verbal/interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven history of prioritizing and administering human resources projects required.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge in all federal, state and local employment laws and procedures.
  • Must have excellent PC skills and HRIS experience.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • SPHR/PHR certification is preferred.


Working Conditions

  • Although this role is based primarily in the office it will at times require time on the production floor standing and walking in hot or cool conditions.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed to support the needs of the site.
  • Travel up to 10% of the time.
